Family has always been an important part of Betty's life, from her early years with the Johnson Family Singers to the present day, singing with daughters Lydia and Elisabeth.
Betty and Arthur live in Haverhill, NH during the summers, and spend winters in St. Croix, USVI. Daughter Lydia, along with her husband Stephen and children Nicky and Katie, live in NH as well.
Daughter Elisabeth teaches at the University an performs on TV in Madrid and is a regular performer with The Chattanooga Big Band.
Son Dick Redding resides in Charlottsville, Va. He has worked for Xerox since grduationg from Duke University. His son, Richard Arthur is in high school and daughter, Catherine Chase teaches fifth grade in Fayetville, N.C. He enjoys runninng and singing with a band.
Betty's older brother, Dr. Kenneth M. Johnson, is a retired United Methodist Minister and lives with his wife Evelyn in Lake Junaluska, N.C. Her twin brothers Bob and Jim Johnson are retired and live in Charlotte, N.C.
Betty enjoys gardening and working with the Judges Council of New Hampshire. She is a Master Flower Show Judge and travels a great deal all over the United States, meeting gardeners and judging Flower Shows.
In the winter, Betty has for many years enjoyed the warm climate, and the people of St. Croix. She is a Board member of The Good Hope School, belongs to two sewing groups, a Book Club and The Writing Group.
