Lydia Gray brings an intimate setting to the covers of pop tunes from the
60's through the 90's with a crystal clear voice and warm instrumentation using
guitar, drums and cello. Although from a jazz heritage (her Mom is Betty Johnson
of Tonight Show fame) in this CD, Ms. Gray infuses this jazz sensibility and
modern sound in a Diana Krall/Norah Jones approach - minimal arrangements and
mellow vocals.
A Brief Word From Lydia Gray:
How can you thank all of the people who have influenced your life? On my senior
high school yearbook page I wrote, “I would like to thank the Academy
and all those who made it possible for my being here!” I wanted to become
a famous actress...but I went down other paths. For good or bad, every path
crossed can be influential. In the last few years of battling health issues,
I have realized even the darkest days can be full of blessings. I thank God
for all He has given me; His grace sees me through.
I now thank the real Academy in my life, MY FAMILY! Mom the Mogul and Dad, your
love and support are without bounds and I love you so! The recording of this
project took place in Spain and under my sister’s amazing guidance, where
I experienced the most creative 5 days of my life. Thank you, my dear Elisabeth,
and your beautiful family for opening your home to me and making this experience
such a joy. I love you all! A thousand thanks to all those incredible musicians
for their talent and hard work! Thank you to my brother Dick and his family for
their love and for listening to and making music! For all those who face heartache
and uncertainty with such courage in any infusion suite anywhere - I am your
sister - you have given me such a different outlook on the world, thank you.
Finally, to the love of my life, Stephen - you are the most wonderful, loving
husband.
I thank you and our sweet children, Katie and Nicholas, for letting me
pursue my dreams and for loving me no matter what!
Each of these songs represent something of my past, present, and future the way
I picture it! Perhaps you will remember when and where you were when you first
heard these songs, or perhaps one is an anthem to a time in your life that has
come and gone, but the music can help you remember - music is the essence - thank
you dear friends and to all who help pick these songs by coming into my life.
Lydia
